Like everybody else who's made this obvious point, I'm either preaching to the converted or talking to the hand, but what the hell:

•  A home-made bomb set off by two hapless, disorganised, irrational misfits kills 3 people, including a child.
• One hapless, disorganised, irrational misfit gets hold of his mum's legally owned semi-automatic rifle and  kills 27 other people, including 20 children.

Do the math.
